History

Stepping through the entryway of Joyner Lumber and Supply's distinct, historic red brick and white stucco facade, one is transported back into time when lumber and lumber craftsmanship were king, elegantly accentuated by the building's interior walls  and  soaring  ceilings  which  are  abundantly  trimmed  with  gorgeous heart pine, stained to a cedar hue.

Joyner Lumber and Supply's initial business location was much more subtle, purchased as an existing retail lumber business in Lakeland in 1952, by Mr. Joyner, Sr. as a business venture, he subsequently renamed the business "Joyner Lumber and Supply Company" and turned the operation over to his son. In 1978, Mr.  Joyner purchased a nearby four acre property, adjacent to a railroad spur, on which the family-owned business has successfully and continuously been located upon to this day.

After devoting 34 years of his life to the growth of Joyner Lumber and Supply Company, Mr. Tom Joyner, Jr. passed away on February 26, 1986.

The survival of the business fell upon the shoulders of his surviving son, Tom Joyner III who had learned the business from the ground up, steadily working his way upward, stocking lumber and pulling customer orders, driving delivery trucks, and eventually, branching into sales.

Thankfully, Tom Joyner III or "Three" as he is known within the family, was more than up to the challenge.

Today, after nearly seven decades in business, with a continued emphasis on quality materials and quality service, under the direction of Tom III, Joyner Lumber and Supply Company, remains a healthy, vibrant, family-owned building materials dealer which continues to thrive.
